already got the inlet manifold off when i box sectioned the chassis rail for the alternator i didnt make it big enough.

i had an annoying noise and it keeps shreading belts so i thought id do something about it before pvs

Are you on about the bit i've circled?




I take it you've got to cut some out, re-weld to keep the chassis long strong?

Re spraying as well? Seems a fair bit of work

Have you thought about re-welding/plating on the other side of the rail, i cant imagine it being very strong if you having to cut more out towards the turret is it called.....even if you are re-welding? Or are you just cutting backwards towards the bulkhead?

had exactly same problem with corsa c turbo i owned, as the alternator couldnt have a tensioner fittted (no room) couldnt get a perfect fitting belt, when boost was coming on and shifting enging was just shredding belts. In the end mounted a rover k series self tensioner on a custom bracket underneath

i just used the hammer

Then again i had TAS engine mounts.... never got close to touching....



was close to the bodywork tho.....5mm maybe!

Hmm, I wonder if this could be due to the fact that Nova's wern't designed to hold anything bigger than a 1.6 8v engine?
