Can you help settle a minor dispute at work
1) Does the colour of the car affect the insurance premium?
2) Is Elephant designed specifically for men (like diamond for women)?
Cheers

Colour i doubt as with quotes online u never specify that...
And no elephant is for both male and female, its main purpose is an "internet only" insurer.

Exactly what I thought.
But, this guy reckons that black cars are dearer to insure because you can't see them at night?

some colours are slighty more with other insursers due to the cost of repairs like the seven tone tvr for example though i would imagine very few insursers do this anymore.

Total nonsense
My girlfreinds dad was in car insurance for 25years and says that if a car were any colour to be more "at risk" than any other it will be silver. They are harder to see in general apparently. Thats striaght from the horses mouth but it won taffect the premium.
saying that it could be differnet from company to company, could have their own policeis.
And PMSL at black cars beiong harder to see, i guess that would be right, if it didnt have ANY LIGHTS Tool.

Yes, he is a nob
But, you know how it is when someone has an idea in their head and they think they're right.
It takes me showing them a page on a forum with 10 replies for them to shut their gob

I was not saying becuase of risk just the cost of repairs.
Though to be fair i would imagine this would be taken into consideration.

Paint finish can raise your premium a little.
For instance a metalic or pearlescent car may command a higher premium than the same vehicle in a basic colour.
Some companies realy load on certain finishes.
For example, the chromescent colours/finishes that MGR listed as options on their later cars will raise your premium significantly over that of a solid colour.
This is due to the extra cost of materials and the labour involved in restoring the finish after an accident, along with the extra ammount of bodywork that normally has to be done to get a good match.
This was confirmed by my broker, and I am not surprised, as the most expensive finish MGR offered was another 2.5k on list.

The car model will make a bigger difference than the colour on they 2.
Model can make a large difference.

If one is geared towards "sport" "sports" or "sporting" etc, with sports seats, nicer alloys bla bla then it's a bigger risk of being stolen and also a bigger risk of someone being a "boy racer" in it.
