Went to MIJ performance yesterday for catback/full system.
Top blokes, top job.
1 problem, I asked many times, i want it loud with NO rasp. And guess what - it rasp's, proberly due to having no middlebox Just wondering, have i got a leg to stand on? or will they try and charge me?
another thing, i asked for 2.25" bore all the way from the de-cat, and it hasent made one bit of difference to the speed even though I have a 4-1 manifold aswell. Does it to be chipped or somthing?
thanks.

what engine do you have?
never have heard a loud exhaust that doesnt have a rasp
unless it has 300+ bhp

yes it rasps because you have no middle box
the speed thing i dont know, although just allowing more exhaust gas out wouldnt make much difference anyway, as you need to get more fuel/air in to create the extra exhaust gases??

X16XE. My brothers Corsa is shit loud, with no rasp.
Don't get me wrong it doesnt sound like a £40 universal jap can or anything.
He did say, ''don't worry, it wont rasp, trust me!''

so if i get them to put a little middlebox in, it'll loose the rasp, but not the loudness of the exhaust?

Yeah there were a few down there with the tailpipe sticking out loads! I just wanted it to look nice and subtle

The 4-1 won't do shit to your engine unless you have the rev limiter raised. For a normal road car you should have got a 4-2-1 manifold.

I had full straight through system on my Xe corsa and it was raspy...I got a middle box fitted from an astra and it made all the difference, was still loud but not raspy.

what engine and what do you have done to the inlet? this will determine the effect of having a big bore exhaust system

mine used to rasp. like ed says, its because of the lack of middle box and the manifold will make it rasp too

it doesnt sound too bad actually, the rasp fades out at high revs
