I keep getting calls on my mobile from this number 01872240331, anyone even know where that code is from for a start? If i answer the phone line just goes dead. After a few of these i just keep diverting them to the answer phone, then i get an answer phone message saying "hi, could i speak to mr haines please" (haines is my surname by the way, they may have just got this off my answer phone as i say it in the message) and then they go on for about 30 seconds saying "hello, hello, can you hear me is anyone there?" they never say what company they are from or what they are calling about or even for me to call them back.
What do you reckon

oh i've tried calling the number from works phone and all i get is an engaged tone?

i used to get them on Vodafone - now im on Virgin and i still get them....dont know what they are....

Sounds like one of those scams where, you pick up the phone and get charged ridiculous amounts for the call.

I've had loads of these calls though i just cant see what the scam could be coz they hang up if i answer, they only ever speak if the answer machine takes the call

This is what i thought, but i got a call from a private number - picked up and no-one answered. I was in traffic at the time, and i just thought they couldnt hear me, but it was dead silent. After about 15 seconds, i hung up. My credit balance came up, and it said i had £18.6# which shocked me as i had just gone to the shop to top up with £20. I couldnt even call them back or report the number as it was a private call.

It is a company down south trying to sel you 3 mobile contracts I had exactly teh same yestrday. I let him waffle on then said "your having a fucking laugh 3's network is the biggest pil;e fo crap I know of and would never touch it with a barge pole." At which point the paki on the end of the phone hung up .....
I take it he didn't want my business then
