Apart from being 10mm less width they are going to be lower profile at 185/45. You aint gonna notice the difference.
In case ya didnt know, the tye sidewall is calculated by Tyre Width x Aspect Ratio(the 45 part)
185 x 0.45 = 83.25mm
195 x 0.45 = 87.75mm

185 wide would actually be better on a 6" rim, but the overall diameter would be too small, so 195/45s would be better for the car

i love this
for the purposes of 90% of road drving, a tyre IS a tyre
the 10% of driving, most people wont do
anyway, hes ordered them now, so no point in going on

I absolutely disagree tbh. There is little difference in the cost of tyres nowadays with rainsports and toyos costing less than a fiver a corner more than matadors or nankangs.
If you are working on the theory of not hooning around and it will be ok, then please never drive in the wet just to be on the safe side. Kinda limits the use of your car tho!!
My mum doesnt drive fast, rarely does more than 55 and takes corners anoyingly slowly, yet Ive just get her a set of uniroyals for her corsa to replace the matadors. The matadors were positively dangerous with little or no waring of breakaway and significantly reduced braking.
I hope the day doesnt come where you stand on the brakes for a child in the street in the rain and find that the last link between the brakes and the road lets you down, as I guess youll feel pretty shoot about saving 20 quid every 15k

i dont buy cheap tyres, i work as a tyre fitter, and i know that ALL tyres have to perform to a certain set of rules to get an E mark
this means that the cheapo nankangs and matadors HAVE TO perform, as do the high end brands
personally, i dont skimp on safety, i always buy decent tyres (one of the perks) but to be honest, for everyday use, ALL tyres are fine, otherwise they'd be condemmed by the EU

i agree but you can get cheap tyres that are good allrounders. i got a set of federals to put on my winter wheels (15"). and used them on a track day aswell , they did very well and there is plenty of tread on them to use next winter. laurence
