In the past ive used a Gunsons Trackrite to track my cars up with mixed results.
As im about to lower my car I though id attempt to knock something up to check the alignment before and after lowering.
Anyway, Using the internals of a laser-pen/battery/resistor/switch and some very straight parallel plastic I knocked up the following.

I calibrated it using a very long spirit level!
To test, I hold the bit with the LED in against the front wheel and had someone hold the other part against the back wheel. Ive tried to a few times and the results were consistent and not far off where i expected them to be.
The corsa toe settings are below;(Zero toe in/out is acceptable)
Toe In 0° - 0°20' (0-2mm)
Once ive lowered my car and set it up I will be taking it to my local tyre center for a "free check" to see how good a job ive done!
I know of plenty of people use string etc to track their cars up but thought id make use of a laser!
Just wondered what people though and if anyone had attempted anything similar?

excellent idea!
fair play for making your own equipment, it will never be 100% accurate- but you can damn well try
would save you loads of money in the long run too..

yeah i agree its not gonna be 100% but then again how accurate is it going to be at some of the garages when a 16yo chav does it for you with equipment they chuck about!
