I know what you mean however, cosworth engine, 306 handling, i've seen worse combo's!
Being French, 306 handling is presumably appaling.
As this would appear to be some kind of copy of Will Gollop's Rallycross car and has been fitted with (amongst other things) a Sierra Cosworth Engine and Ford 4x4 hardware and suspension, any french unpleasantness in the handling department may well have been negated by some semblance of decent handling by the non Peugeot eqipment, and the fact it's no longer FWD.
However, it still begs the question, why oh why oh why?

i doubt that it still handles like a 306 though,
explain your theory? Not sure what cosworth engine weights but i'm sure my 1.9diesel trubo is not lightweight and the handling is still immense.
sorry I misread your original comment, i thought you was saying that the 306 handling was crap, to which I was saying its probably a lot better than that now with the current setup

A
The french make good handling cars, 106 and 306 are spot on, they fall to bits but ca't take anything away from the handling.

Sorry but u obviously havent driven many french cars, i do admit the build quality is shocking but u cant deny they handle very well from the factory
i mean the 205 will out handle any vauxhall of the period, maybe even to date

I have driven LOTS of French cars actually David.
Although I would say some have been very comfy and pleasant to drive, I wouldn't call any of them good handling.
The French seem to make cars just for the sake of it, just random and often quite odd little boxes that are simply that...cars.
There are however a number of examples I haven't driven that I would very much like to (in fact i'd love to own them too), that seem to be the exception to the general rule as far as I am aware.
They are as follows and in no particular order, other than the one I remembered them in -
1) Citroen SM
2) Renault 5 Turbo Maxi
3) Alpine A110
4) Citroen BX 4 TC-Evo
5) Peugeot 205 T16 Evo
6) Renault Alpine GTA V6 Turbo Le Mans
7) Renault Clio Williams phase 1
8) Venturi 600 LM
9) Renault 5 Turbo 2
10) Espace V10
11) Peugeot 205 Paris Dakar edition
12) Peugeot 405 Paris Dakar edition
13) Peugeot 205 Pikes Peak Edition
14) Peugeot 405 Pikes Peak Edition
15) Talbot Lotus Sunbeam (Henri Toivonen tarmac rally spec)
16) Alpine A310 V6
17) Matra Simca Bagheera
18) Peugeot 505 Turbo Berline
19) Peugeot 504 Coupe
20) Renault 5 Alpine
21) Renault 5 Gordini
22) Talbot Matra Murena
23) Talbot Tagora V6 - French production saloon car series race version
24) Peugeot 206 WRC (Richard Burns' tarmac car)
25) Peugeot 505 GTi
26) Peugeot 505 V6
27) Hommel Berlinette RS Coupe
28) Pescarolo C60
29) Peugeot 905
That's all for now, but i'm sure there's others i've forgotten.

Your folks is craaaaaaaaazeh CM
Either that or they must have French DNA
That said, The sporty versions of the Talbot Samba always had their own special charm.
It had great proportions and did the cute stumpy chic little Euro hatch better than, and long before the 205 GTi.
Best of all were the Samba Cabriolet, and the Rallye which were both as, in their heyday.
edit: Btw, you're very right CM. Number 10 is indeed mondo mondo coolio.
In fact, if I had to choose one car from my French list (actually amazed at how many French cars I like), that would have to be it I think.

Gotta say i totally disagree most fwd hatch french cars handle superbly for what they are, clio williams, 106 gti/xsi, 306 are ok etc etc and evo have the clio williams down as being one of the best handling cars ever
It's a stupidish conversion but I wouldn;t say no to it i've always loved the dimma kit and with the 4wd and cossie engine i quite like it (I'd never actually buy it though)

Forgot about them. They are unusual little motors too.
Always fancied a blatt in one.
Would also like a mint, silver DS23 with black roof, just cos they're so bloody weird.

CM, you ever seen Day of the Jackal?
Black DSs look so in that film.
Have always liked the idea of owning one.
Just not fixing it though.

A bit crap and unreliable plus FWD but just plain chic/cool like Gitanes, Monte Carlo, Nice, LeMans, Vanessa Paradis, Alizee, Monaco, Kronenbourg, Brigitte Bardot etc etc.
