Thats the difference you see, being in a band myself I know the difference between talentless rubbish and music thats been thought about and is technically good. You could basically pick someone off the street that has never picked up a guitar before and have them playing the rubbish that the band I mentioned at the start of the thread could play (apart from the drummer mind you)

With the greatest of respect Jules, you have my blessing to secreet all of the above where the sun fails to shine aswell.
I have an extremely eclectic music taste, and am fairly liberal and tolerant in my approach to new stuff.
I enjoy everything from Nitin Sawnhey, to Ray Charles, to Milo, to Audioslave, to Run DMC, to Miles Davis, to Metallica, to The Beatles, to Johhny Cash, to Marvin Gaye, to Eric B and Rakim, to The Who, to NWA, to Faithless and so on, and on, and on.
Amongst other things I like Motown, Soul, House, Trance, PROPER Rhythm and Blues (not that commercial false modern pop shit that masquerades under the R&B banner), Rap (only the old stuff) and a little Blue Grass occassionally to name but a few.
I have a particular soft spot for quality rock and decent metal though, and feel that bands such as those mentioned at the start of this thread do nothing but harm the genre, and give Rock and Metal a bad name.
The quality of music isn't JUST about opinion or taste.
Truely good music of any origin, style or type will shine through and be apparent to the educated listener.
Badly written, performed and produced music that has no real heart, soul or worthy content, and that is presented in a shocking manner purely for shock value, is empty and valueless and achieves no goal in my book.
So called bands of this ilk are as damaging to the name of rock music as the soulless and commercial pap that is Bon Jovi or Limp Bizkit, and leave me either cold, or just laughing at their ignorance and naivety.

What turds these people are.
They're never even scary or hard. Just massively gay nerdy types, like the blokes out of cradle of filth and slipknot, and that marylin manson dickweed.
Stick to your pop/soul/r&b dross then.......
With the greatest of respect Jules, you have my blessing to secreet all of the above where the sun fails to shine aswell.
Blah de blah de blah blah.................
So what you are trying to say is that you listen to all types of musical genres, good for you, so do I, but I would never critisise somebody elses choice in music and put it down as 'poor musical quality' like you seem to be doing!
OK so you don't like it, that's up to you, and as you don't like it you don't have to listen to it, but please don't try and over elaborate your point by saying stupid things about bands performing with no heart or passion - ever seen a Slipknot performance? Judging by you comment I can only assume that you have not.
One final note on the subject of quality, at the Download festival when Metallica were headlining their drummer was taken in and was unable to perform, obviously they wanted to perform so they held and impromptu audition backstage to try out drummers from other bands who they thouhgt would be best to fill the slot - who was chosen by Metallica themselves? Joey Jordison of Slipknot (and who is also a guitarist in Murderdolls) so he must have some talent if the rock legends that are Metallica picked him from a plethora of rock drummers to perform for them at a moments notice and he did a truely amazing job just ask anyone who has seen/heard their set.
I'm happy to agree to disagree with you as it's your opinion but you can't honestly say that they are untalented and heartless in their performances.

Just to re-itterate what I was saying before, I think bands like Metallica are held by me in the highest of respect. Their music is fantastic and they are highly skilled musicians. But, as before, listen to stuff by Hemdale on iTunes and you will see what I mean by untalented dross - This is what mainly drove me to put up this post, the fact their songs are called 'Vaginal Discharge' among others and the noise they emit is frankly offensive to the ear.

Yes I can Jules
More to the point, I can say that they are very bad aswell.
Btw, my initial retort was in response to your accusations over pop music etc. (Thin ice to be on, in the presence of a Black Label man)

totally agree with this, having seen metallica at earls court, trivium in cardiff, slipknot etc the music is performed with pure passion and maximum effort. regardless of peples perceptions of them, slipknot not only play some technical stuff that imo sounds great but the energy and showmanship is almost unrivalled.
also look at what ramstein do live, they're crazy but make great music and put on one hell of a pyrotechnical show. black metal ain't really my cup of tea but i certainly don't disrespect the fans of it. at the end of the day, different people have different tastes but we shouldn't be disrespectful of other peoples tastes. like trance

Precisely.
There are, and always have been fantastic rock and metal bands out there that do honour to their craft.
It's the few rotten apples that (for whatever reason) feel it necessary to dress up in weird/sick/pervy/stupid/bizarre costumes and/or give songs offensive names and pretend to be murderers, vampires, beasts etc that give a whole genre a bad name.
In the main, it's the hardest fuckers with the most talent that don't shout about it or get the promotion they deserve.
Rammstein are a perfect example. They're a bunch of German fetish freaks for God's sake.
They write songs about sodomising gimps and have a stage show to match.
Sad.
