yes those tiny black dots are surfers

you would not believe the swell yesterday and today, went to the Sydney Northern beaches for the day, and the swells were about 5 metres easily enough to swallow a house, then these waves would break and the sheer force of it was making the beach shake every time. seeing them crash against rocks was totally totally cool, wish i took my camera
interesting read

world champion surfers from all over the world swamped new south wales yesterday and today, has been some of the best surf conditions ever seen in australia. novices were being rescued left right and centre though, just too much for some. i wouldnt even paddle in that yesterday

Jayzus!
My mate Sam would be in his element.
He regularly tries to kill himself with the sea.

I've seen Croyde Bay in Devon firing off 20ft waves like that top photo before. Im a regular down there in the summer. When I was at Bondi the waves were very tame compared to that yet still, as always, the sea was packed.
Cant wait to get my couple of weeks in down in Devon. My boards craving to be shown the light of 2006.

You ever get down Newquay Tiger?
Some of my mates surf Fistral etc before the place hits peak season. April/May normally.
They love it. Still good but a bit chilly still.

To be honest mate - its sooo busy down in Newquay that its just plain dangerous, ive had so many people not able to get out the way quick enough - my mate had the sharp end of a board in his neck and I pulled a womans arm out of joint when she bailed too late. I much prefer long beaches like Woolacombe, Saunton etc because there is so much room, though each beach has a more crowded spot where the swell lands theres always a wave somewhere there. Croyde is good through the winter but lacks places to stay.

Tell me about it.
Surprisingly quiet before the summer if you catch the right beach at the right time though.
The boys that go down there usually do Indonesia further into the year when Newquay gets stupid.
Wish I could surf. Looks amazing.
Luckily i'm not the only non-surfer. So usually sat on the beach/rocks drinking and watching the loons in the group risking life and limb.
