Myself and another user on here nearly lost £450 on paypal!
basicly they tried to pay the funds into my paypal account, the funds left their account but never arrived in mine. I got my paypal account stopped, letters threatening bailiffs will call, phonecalls from paypal demanding the money back....
the other person ended up getting their money back from the credit card company they used to make the payment, my account showed as -£450 for 8 months.
until one day i get an e-mail from paypal admitting liability. they wouldnt put it on paper and send it in the post to me at all which was annoying but they also wouldnt remove the £450 debt from my account so i closed it and will never use them again.
paypal now have over 10,000 fraud and non payment claims outstanding.
dodgy me thinks

Myself and corsa808 had problems with paypal a few months back where around £300 went missing from his account and never turned up paypal said there was no trace of it. luckily i had paid with a credit card and my card issuers took it up as a fraud case they got me my money back and took paypal to a claims court

Just sent this email to that watchdog email address
I am writing to show my displeasure in Paypal after seeing the Watchdog episode and hearing countless episodes of fraudulent activity via Paypal.
It is my view that if a person pays for something fraudulently in whatever way via Paypal then Paypal should take responsibility and fund the loss of money themselves.
I understand that it is out of Paypals control if a card is used fraudulently, but if your systems arent secure enough to stop fraudulent activity, them in my view it is you that should fund the losses as its YOUR systems that are being exploited, not the seller.
Maybe you should place more time and effort into making your systems more secure? I understand you have a verification process, and is largely safer to do business with a verified party, so why have other means that allow fraud to happen? Maybe you think by making the verification compulsory for ALL accounts you will restrict the number of users using Paypal and as such you may not make as much money? If this is the case then your approach to the whole procedure is that of greed and not caring if anyone loses out as long as as many user as possible use the system to make as much money as possible!
Yours
Steve Williams
