My mate had a similar beetle but never showed it.
Best to ask on a forum but they fetch silly money if done correctly.
Beetle owners/collectors are very fussy and want every thing original

modded beelte are never worth the same as restored. you cut off allot for the market.

imo change the weels for some polished EMPI 8 spokes, and spend some money on show kit (chrome grille covers, trims ect) and you'll have yourself a nice show'er

I Know a bit about beatles worked with them for an year and a half, I know that a standerd restored Beatle Convirtable 1600 would fetch about £4000 if it was in good nick and the older the better with beatles.

I would say if you get that looking good and maybe change the wheels you would proberly be looking at £4500 maybe?

Whats the engine mate i it a 1600 air cooled?

That looks very much like a Wizard Roadsters conversion with awful fibreglass bumpers, I hope the conversion has been done well as a lot of them are bodged home done conversions.
I used to own a early 67 call looker and I still follow the air cooled scene so do know a fair bit about them.

Get those bumpers off and put either some chrome blade bumpers of the US spec 'towel rail' bumpers, if it doesn't have early sloping headlights then get a couple of early fibreglass wings as the earler wings/lights look so much better than the later stand up ones, also ditch those god awful 1303 elephant feet rear lighrts and get some nice early US spec ones or hot rod style teardrops, take that plastic 1303 cover off the decklid and get a pope's nose on there!
If you're on 4 stud hubs (which it should be for that age) then change the rims for a nice set of Porsche cookie cutters or Gas Burner replicas (if you can fins them) or Empi 8's, if you are on 5 stud then Gas Burners or Empi 5's are the way to go!

thats what i thought, i dont know too much about them, as you may have guessed, but what would you say it would be worth if i just corrected the bodywork with a new spray and just tarted it up a bit??

That is a US spec 'towel rail' front bumper, the Euro 'blade' bumper is just the same but without the rail running across the top or the overriders (the parts that go upwards)

Gas burner wheels:

Cookie cutters (replicas):

Porsche Fuch's (replicas):
