Finished running in the car this evening.
did a final oil change and have just been out for a blast for the first time
doesn't seem quite as quick as it was before on the old engine, but it runs smoothly and it's great to be back in control of a bit of power again.
found a couple of problems today. my rad fan doesn't come on . will have to have a quick investigation on saturday.
and i've an oil leak looks like it's coming out of the dizzy. is that possible? is there a camshaft oil seal at the dizzy end of the exhaust cam?
anyway, apart from that everything seems ok. planning to give it's first propper outing at santa pod on sunday for RWYB. mates birthday piss-up on sat, so there's a chance i wont wake up, but i'm pretty keen.
anyone else going?

yea miek there is a seal at the dizzy end iirc
and i imagine it will get slowly faster (if thats makes sense) fads did this after a rebuild
if not do what fads does and replace the AFM weekley in hope it will go even faster

yeah, it's been off the road since september!
had an older engine stripped down and rebuilt bottom end. stripped worked and re-assembled head.
should be making standard power at the moment, but i've had bigger valve cut-outs machined into the pistons, so i'll stick a lairy cam in it a little down the line.
it getting slowly faster makes perfect sense. i guess it's all quite tight at the moment and will get better as it loosens up a little.
i did 200 miles below 3k before first oil change.
then about 400 miles on fresh mineral oil before second change.
been giving it stick this evening, but not taking it to redline yet. i'll have done another 150 probably before sunday.

Yeah the engine will be tight like you said give it a few more miles and it will be back to usual

yes it would a little.
the block has been decked aswell though, so they should cancel each other out. (near enough anyway. i haven't worked it out )
