well theres 2 ways` either build up fibergladd and then skim with filler (this could crck as quiytte a bit of fiberglass is needed.

best way i have seen is to cut the sections either side of the recess off another bumper and bond them on filling behind with fibergalss. a mate has this done (bout 1 1.2 yrs ago) and has not cracked scince

Love the bumper Adge, top work mate. but as said it could do with a smaller plate or something else.

That plate defeats the whole point of smoothing everything out...it just squares it up again lol

Nice bumper tho :-)

Could put the plate slightly higher, between the fog lights.

Looks like it will be ripped off by speed bumps where it is now!

On both my fibreglass bumpers I have had the recess filled in just with filler, it's rock solid and not going anywhere.

However, on the plastic bumper I'd do as Adge has done and do it with metal.

how its done by a run ofthe mill bodyshop and how it "should" be done are completely different

If you wan it done properly ask the bodyshop if they've heard of peal-ply - if they have - they'll do a really good job - with a single skin of fibreglass which will need minimal filler and require no extra strengthening as it will essentially be part and parcel of the bumper

metal way works but isnt best - it will crack around the edges over time - regardless of how good a job it supposedly is!!!
