been round for a while now and is finally getting the credit he deserves.
the album in-between dreams came out around a year ago and has now just gone to number 1. bout bloody time too.
in a different league to most things in the chart IMO

J. J. is the bee's knees.
His second and third album aren't a patch on his first though.
His newer stuff is far too commercial and poppy in my opinion.
To get a proper idea of the man's abilities, you need to listen to his first album.
He's a real undergound, cult, niche, surfer/student favourite from a few years back.
It's a shame he's getting famous because that will spoil his appeal I think, and it's even more of a shame that he's got famous off the back of his newer, inferior stuff.
Me and some mates made the 600 mile round trip to Newquay in May of 2003 for a legendary long weekend of drunken debauchery and Mr. Johnson's first album, 'Brushfire Fairytales' was the soundtrack to the weekend (along with Electric 6), so I may be unfairly biased in his favour.
However, 'Fortunate Fool' and 'Mudfootball are brilliant tunes and 'Flake' is possibly the greatest song ever written.

see now i disagree, i thought he was a depressing whingy voiced nerdy pleb, but i went to see him live at brixton accademt couple of weeks ago, and was surprised, he was actually very good, and sang alot o songs that didnt make me want to cry or jump in front of the tube on the way home

Yeah album is good, couple of songs are a it pants and its a bit same all the way through. Very good CD to relax to, cant wait to go on holiday and chill round the pool with it on.
