selling a old golf but it doesnt have a v5 so how do i go about changing ownership and can you do this over the phone?

Why don't you ring the DVLA and ask, rather than gettin half the story on here

You'll need the V5 to change ownership. Phone the DVLA and get a replacement.

there closed just now so was wondering if anyone knows on here! Selling the car the moro is well and realised the car doesnt have a v5!

I lost mine so had to go to Manchester so they could Tax the car there and then and are sending me out a new V5.

just check the website and it says:
"Please note: If you do not have a V5/V5C you can still inform DVLA that you no longer have the vehicle. In order to do this you must write to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1AR quoting the Vehicle Registration Mark, make and model, exact date of sale and name and address of the new keeper. However, you should note that our records will not be complete until the new keeper tells us in writing"

So i fill in the following and send away and the new owner writes to them to confirm there the new keep. I'm right yeah?

u can get a form from the post office,get the new keeper to put there details on the form,send the form to dvla it will cost u 19 pounds, and they will receive the new log book

that forms is for the new owner to fill in so inorder for me to sell my car i only need to write to dvla to tell them i no longer own the car right?

if they fill out the V62 AFAIK you dont need to do anything....get them to pay the £19 too
