Im abit of a beginner at photography, but took this the other with my new cam and impressed myself.

you've got the DOF spot on but the framing could be better. bottom left and the flowers which are out of focus in the bacground coming out of the top of the flower are distracting easy enough to move them out the way. small amount of time in PS will bring out colours and contrast a bit more. what you take it with?

Its a Konica Minolta Dimage A200

I see what you mean about the out of focus flowers in the back ground, ill have a play about with it in photoshop.
