If the 1 litre 12 valve produces more BHP and torque than the 1.2 8 valve, why is the insurance group higher on the 1.2 ?

the 1.2 doesnt come with an immobiliser built into the ignition barrel and a chip in the key

so the 1.2 is more nickable than the 1 litre, which has an immobiliser as standard

1.0 is a more modern engine, better technology. Still shit though. Not sure why the insurance is higher, possibly as the car will be older and probably wont have dead-locking or immobiliser

Newer stuff is generally rated better.

It doesn't always mean it actually is better. I paid less to insure a 1998 1.2 than a 1995 1.2

They were mechanically identical and even had the same locking etc.

TBH I'd rather have the 1.2 8 valve over the 1 litre...it's 10 times more reliable. New stuff is shit

insurance is stupid, looking at the 1.8 corsa and the insurance is not that much higher than the 1.4 becuase it has cat 1 alarm and immobiliser. also apparently the 1.4 is more desirable as far a stealing goes. insurance groups arnt much of an indication of acctual costs anymore

Haha.

For me to insure a 1.4 Corsa sport (16 valve) it costs 80 quid more than my 1.2 8 valve....when I can afford to buy a Sport I know what I'm doing
