just fitted a jvc head unit and connected the red wire to the yellow and yellow to the red to stop me loosing all the station when i turn the igintion off.the thing is now all the dash lights come on a stay on even without the key in.anyideas?

you must have the red and yellow from the car joined to gether somehow

yes thats what ive done,i havnt got a iso connection block for the head unit.is there anything else i can do

have you got a photo of the wiring?
You cant just short out the red and yellow wires from the car, they normally short the two out on the stereo and connect them to the only single feed from the car.

no i havnt got a pic sorry.i think im just gonna have to cut the block off(comming from the car) and use the block i got wiv the head unit and just solder them 2geter in the right order  ...anybody know what the coloured wires are for comming from the car itself.
the colors comming from the block i got with the head unit are:
black
yellow
red
blue with white strip
brown
white
white with blck stripe
grey
grey with white stripe
green
purple with black stripe
purple
i know what they aree for but they not the same as the ones comming from the car.i need to know what colour for live,earth,ignition live,speakers ect...comming from the ar
