It dont take forever.... Fibreglass ones do....
MDF ones are simple as you only need to do so much cutting and then glue together.

mdf are easy to build. ive made mine within the space of a couple of days (only a few hours per day). in that time i have also managed to completely coat it in 1/2" thick foam and will soon be onto the vinyl retrim. with a bit of look it'll come out ok. then its onto the dash tv build :/

Hardest part i found was making the floating floor / top part, so it went round with very little gaps round the side, you have to make ti too big and then trim it down.

Materials..... MDF Wood Glue and soem screws and whatever you want to trim it in

or make a template from cardboard or use the carpet as this is near enough the correct shape
