went to lake district rather than uni today. loaded up FB with wife & kid headed to Shell garage. filled FB up with diesel extra and reset trip computer. on the way down used cruise (first time using it for any distance) and was returning an average of 55mpg before I got to the penrith junc. the 25 or so miles to boness was slow as most people can't go above 30mph on A roads on the way back via hardknot and ullswater I was stuck behind idiots going too slow before I was stuck behind a coach so hardly got above 30mph most of the way along to the M6. headed back up with cruise set to 70mph. Had a bit of a sore back at the end still not got the seating position correct but foot was in perfect health

info from trip

340mile trip
52.3 mpg
average 50mph
distance left 361miles

had I done that in the punto GT I'd have got 35mpg. would have had more had I not had ignorant slow people (not the coach) not giving way in front.

Don't know what difference the shell extra makes but its my local station and cheaper than BP same price as supermarket. car however is now manky.

do you not find the feel of modern vauxhalls slightly cheap? Was talking to someone today who's always had Vaux's, but finds newer ones arent all that.

I find the vectra buit so much better than the corsa we had plastics are fine dash is spongy etc etc. I expect there will be a few rattles eventually.

as for the A road driving. handling was good when you were notpushing it. took corners well and had lots of grip. never pushed the car at all and don'tthink I woul deither. its a tad soft.

car is a 1.9 CDTI SRi vectra C. 150ps 232 lb ft torque.
