I have paid us$ cheques in before. It takes a bit longer for the money to clear tho. Don't see why you can pay in euros tho.

Can I use euro currency in the UK?
Some shops may accept euro as well as sterling, though there will be no obligation on retailers to do so. Shops in major tourist areas and in airports are more likely to accept them than others.
