As above people. Do any of you know of any such courses which can be taken which cover primarily engine tuning, vehicle tuning and bodystyling. Whether full time courses at a college or short crash courses with private companies which you pay for?
Looking for some contact details of the places/companies that offer such courses and what courses they have to offer. Any help and info on this topic would be greatly appreciated.  up!

Engine tuning isn't really as simple as a "crash course" is it

 Engine tunning course  I can't see their being one off the sehlf, would require an apprenticeship as it's not really a hobby if you want to know about more than one engine type.
Bodystyling - why would you want to?

Didn't say it was to be fair did I Brett???
For example a crash course can be done (2weeks or so) in electronic engine management which you can pay a bomb for. Found such courses in USA but nothing in the UK which I can find.
Am primarily after a full time specialised course.
James Watt college were going to run a course in "Vehicle Bodystyling and Performance Enhancement" which sounded top and all over a year, but as it stands it didn't run this year due to a lack in suitable premises and now they're saying the same for next year. So want to find something similar.
So any useful input on this topic would be appreciated and not pointless digs.

What are you hoping to achieve by doing a course like that? Do you want to run a tuning business?
You'd be better learning to spray or something tbh, you can start their and build up your skills as you go in the real world.

Just the way you put crash course in there as if you could learn how to "tune" any car in a week. Probably be some ebay course on how to sell those resistor superchips

Lay off him brett, no one's saying that you can be taught everything in a short space of time, but there's nothing to say there isn't some course out there that will teach the basics involved.
I would say if such a course existed, it would probably be aimed at people with mechanical experience, however, not just your everyday guy off the street.

Yeah plan was to move to Greenock and go to James Watt. Fell through last minute this year and looks like it isn't running again next year.
Yeah idea is to become adept at engine tuning primarily and maybe bodystyling also. And likely set up company yeah, that's the plan. Just finished a BSc in Automotive Technology degree in Sheffield and now at West Notts doing a Motorsport qualification this year and the plan was to do the James Watt course next year, but likely not to run now. So... looking for other "options".
Don't know what your problem is loafofbrett, when did I say that you could "tune" any car in a week? There wouldn't be a crash course in tuning any car/any engine, etc. Yeah all engines are in principle the same. But you couldn't cover all the areas of tuning in a short space. I am educated, un-naive and do know that.
Just wondered if anyone had heard of courses running over here (like they have in the USA) where private companies charge people (can be expensive) to come to short period classes (one to four weeks generally) and learn about (hands on) how to "tune" engines in one of certain areas. Whether it's head tuning. Or engine management. Stage 1 tuning. Stage 2 tuning. Stage 3 tuning. etc.
Or whether there are any fulltime courses that run over a year or so that cover most things as the one at James Watt did.

Stevenson college in edinburgh does a panel beating course but thats in conjunction with an apprenticeship and would last 3 years
Night classes would be the best thing to look for
