No. They don't ask if you're car is a Cat D, why would it affect premiums

cat d is minor damage, cat c is slightly more major and b and a are even more. the car has been repaired by the insurance basically after it has been classed as a write off

D - Repairable salvage. Minimal damage sometimes stolen and found after claim has been paid, or cost of repair combined with difficulty obtaining new parts to enable a swift repair.
Recorded with HPI

OK I stand corrected. I still wouldn't touch anything category D/C/B/A.

Category D - Repairable salvage. Minimal damage, probably not structural, but insurer does not want to repair, even though it might be economic to do so. Often stolen and recovered after claim has been paid. Or for unusual models or grey imports where the difficulty of obtaining new parts hinders a quick repair. Does not need VIC inspection to return to road. Recorded with HPI, AA, and the like.

If he's really interested and you've got a fair price don't shift because of it.
Tell him you work in the insurance industry and wave him goodbye
