no problem really. if you already have log book you should get a call off police about a check on it. they make sure chassis numbers match etc and send you on your way. mate buys and sells loads of them. cat c/d not a problem

mate iv just got a cat c car not so long ago, was a rover 214, tiny dint in a wing and one rear door with a bigish dent. Do you have any part of the logbook? as this should of been destroyed by the insurance company, as said above if yous end off for log book dvla will send you a VIC check form to fill in. Need to book car in at a VOSA station for the check which is £37 i belive they then check the chassic number etc make sure car is legit and provide you with certificate to send back to dvla.

ah, thats not too bad, dont think its that expensive to get it checked, just like another mot, can you not go back to the guy you got it from and ask for your money back if he didnt tell you it was a write off?
do a search on google for more info on cat c

its upto buyer to find out with hpi check, so you have no come back but ive had a vic test and it didnt cost anything. got a call from police, took it to them one sat morning and he looked at numbers and said off you go. thought cat c/d was just uneconomical to repair for insurers not a big smash though. old cars get wrote off for damage to one panel nowadays so i would not worry if you couldnt tell when you bought it.
