Are they legal?
I saw a mini with them on yesterday, some old guy driving it so i assumed they were standard unless hes changed em over.
Anyone clear it up?

not 100% sure, i always thought its not allowed, but see cars with em

some older cars are allowed black plates with white/silver letters but from a certain onwards you have to have the normal plates

not legal, but so many people get away with it.

I've been seeing loads of daft plates recently! And those ones that are cutout around the letters are just a bag of shite

should have normal plates on but its possible to get illegal plates made up if you order on the internet from somewhere like Ireland or buy them stating that you are going to use them for show use only

You can get any plates you want from the likes of GTGrafix, etc. Technically they sell them on the basis that they're got show use only so they don't get in trouble.

Black and white plates are only road legal for pre 1970 vehicles.

although if a new range rover or merc has them police wont bother, yet a corsa will get pulled as i found out.

apparantely, from dvla site they only allowed on cars registered before 1973

but law says you can have ANY font on those plates too

so buy an old car and drive wrecklessly and have an illedgible plate
