Had to replace my brake pads this evening, considering they were a bit low and I have a big motorway drive on Monday. Anyway, came to take off my wheels and the bolts were on so tight I had to practically hammer the wrench to get them off.
When I'd got them out, realised why - the fucking monkey that fitted new tyres for me a week or so ago had just aimed roughly with the airgun and blasted them back in, so I now have cross threaded bolts (including lockers) and cross threaded holes in the hub too
Am thinking I'll have to re-tap the holes and buy new bolts, or fit new hubs now but never gonna get it done by monday now Pics to follow...

if it was at a "kwik-fit" /"national tyres" type of place go back to them,
my bro and two mates work at the above places and they get customers coming back and they get refunds etc, - one lad dropped a Lexus rim on a hammer or tyre lever (something metal n e way) and they had to pay for the refurbs etc
so if they fucked ya hubs up they *should* pay for a new hub etc - go back tomorrow and find out

It's a privately run place, not part of a chain. They seemed ok in the past...

i'd still go back mate,
not as though you can manually wind a bolt fully in and not relise you are cross threading it is it?

Do them back up as tight as you can and take it back and say look can you get these off that you put on the other day, then watch him do it and say that aint right is it
Then see what they say when you want some compo!

That what I'm saying Gaz, he must have just buzzed it straight in with the airgun, whereas mos people I know turn it in a few threads by hand first

it takes fukin ages to crossthread a bolt with an airgun, whoever put the wheels back on knew they done it.

thing is i really dont think you should buzz gun wheels back on (alloy wheels)
at tyre places they have "strong bars" with a "clicker" (carnt remeber for the life on me what its called) - once there at a certian pressure they will just click so that you carnt over tighen the bolt
Fuck what he says mate - he has cost you money

Still a bit tight, but I like it that way
