Can someone explain what this actually means?
Because a couple of people i know have crossed minds about what it means.. 
One think's that it's the colour of the engine bay...
other thinks its the engine name.. ie 2 litre red top...

its nicknamed the "red top" as they came with a red sparkplug cover i think

its the 2.0 16v Vauxhall engine. C20XE
has a red spark plug cover so is known as the red top engine...

i think its to do with the colour of the centre of rocker cover !
its just known as the red top nowadays

yup, colour of the spark plug cover, hence why you get red top v6's and ecotec v6's, its just the colour of the top!

ah, but some of them actually came with black ones that said ecotec, yet they wernt an ecotec engine at all. a few c20let's also had plus covers like that. they are rare though
