Forget what the "paper" times say.
I have driven an ST and a clio, the clio was quicker, torquier and handled about the same if not a little better.

Renault have been buliding this type of car for years now and they are pretty dam good at it.

Vauxhall and Ford are the same - luke warm hot hatches (i know i drive one myself) Lets just hope the Corsa VXR is better than the ST (well i know it will be )

The ST will suffer with torque problems with the Coupe Turbo as with the Vauxhall being turbocharged gives significant gains.

The new ST is turbocharged also!

The Astra VXR will blow anything out the water in its class.

The Megane Sport - great car but to lardy and just not quick enough

Golf GTi - VXR has 40bhp advantage nuff said.

Focus ST - the only thing i know about them from reading is that with the 5 cylinder lump i notice comments that the front end is super heavy which will affect it plus 225bhp - the Astra has a weight and power advantage.

wake up teddy!!
Fiesta ST aint even in the same league!

The focus really stands out as being poor when you consider it has an extra piston and cc advantage over most of todays hatches!!

That was a pre production model Siberia, was'nt even the finnished article, and it had the 19's on it, hardly good for track driving.

The ST focus left the roundabout side to side with the Astra Coupe... which is not exactly a "well handling" car.

I just went balls out through the rbt at about 60-65-ish!!
4WD rules!

Awesome. I will wait for a VXR to be written off and nick the turbo

I've heard they'll only retail from Vauxhall for around £500 and are meant to be a lot stronger than the standard ZLET item...

If the ST is using a Volvo T5 lump it's quite cool -- lots of tuning potential. My brother's is stupidly quick (in a Volvo )

Allo Tim!

Modding the coupe already are we?

VXR turbo is a much stronger, more capable unit.

but you gotta remember the lump used the the VXR has substantial under piston cooling and other jiggery pokery to stop it melting... I would take all the precautionary measures when fitting that tubbie fella!
