my xe corsa is running like a sack of shit, really misfiring when being driven, yet it idles fine.

just checked codes, and only code i have is temp sensor,

could this cause my problem?

Yep. Coolent temp is part of the equation the ECU uses to calculate how long to open the injectors.

definately. ecu will think the car is cold and keep the choke open longer, are you using a lot more fuel than usual?

Yea... Basically the coolent temp sensor decides whether the car is cold or not and effectively turns the choke on and off.

yea, the car has been chucking out black crap all over my rear bumper since i fitted the xe, maybe my problem,?

yep black crap is unburnt petrol, get temp sensor = sorted. My car was doing this few weeks back

When the engine is assembled the thermostat is here - the thing with the wires coming out of it is the coolent temp sensor.
