i took the paint off of my spark plug cover with a sanding disc on a drill, and have started to polish it.
the fairly random marks on the metal from the disc show at the moment, but will they be gone by the time it's shiny or should i make them go the same direction before getting it really shiny?

If you keep on polishing it using different grades of polish you will be doing effectivky the same thing as sanding it.

If you have some fairly deep marks though you will be there for a while.
