Right i know i've been banging on about my old scooby and Skylines for a bit but i am going to get anouther proper jap performance car and unlike most people who can't insure them etc and just blag about getting one i actually am so bere with me
I've managed to get my insurance down for my old scooby as i was going to buy it back but i'm not sure as i think the lad might have ruined it by raggin the shite out of it
Anywho i managed to get it for £1600 for an import WRX so i doubt i will be paying more for any other car i hope.
I just can't live without the speed of a decent turbo motor
Choices are..
Skyline r33 GTS
Another WRX but maybe an sti this time round or a newer model
RX7 but i'm shit scared of the engine etc
Keep the BM and stop being daft
I've seen this at my fav garage but it looks like it right on rebuild time

Seen it in the flesh and it's mint!

i would love an rx7 its just the mpg that puts me off them the most, and lack of places that can do work on them.
what about a s14a with some mods to bring it to around 300bhp?

s13 and s14 and possibly s15 have weak-ish bottm end bearings
where as the s12 has dogy cam roller bolts that work themselfs lose after time

Yeah an S14 has always been a choice but ther just not fast enough as standard mate I ripped one to bits in the WRX even though it was a turbo and that was from 0 to about 80 and he was well behind.
Just been reading about the rebuilds so i might just be scared off right here and now
MPG ain't a problem i only do about 100 miles a week if that!

My S14a has been bulletproof for 3 years running well over 330bhp on standard internals (Barring cams and head gasket) Definitely dont need to worry about the reliability on them!
RX-7's do let go at around the 60k mark but Subarus/Evo's and Skylines are just as bad. Thing is with an RX-7 the rebuild is only £2.5k compared to £5k for the others. No turbocharged Jap performance car is 100% reliable.......if you cant afford to maintain/fix then dont buy!!!

How about my GT4 280 bhp, 4 wheel drive, rarer than scooby, nae bad on petrol if driven onlow boost.
less than 6 grand and cheaper to insure than scoob .....you know it makes sense....

With simple mods the GT4 can be blistering... but as standard they are a little dull
6.1 to 60...
but... with a downpipe and zaust, and a decent boost controller your looking at a fair amount over 300bhp

That once looks nice , but like you said its done 62,492 miles so you wont be far off , anything in the next 20K miels and you will look at rebuild (2.5K)
go over to http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/
theres a few on there for sale at the mo and they have had rebuilds.

Where's that garage mate? That looks very similar to one a lad near mine ha\d a while back, nice car. I'd consider one, based on Stu's comments, keep some money spare and try and get a rebuilt one, what about nismo's which has just been rebuilt? (sure he was after an s2k now?)
