Hi all,
I got a letter thru the post about a month ago and it was my first fan mail from the local police! It was a NIP for doing 35 in a 30. According to the road description and time of incident it was on my way home from work one night.
It bugged me for a while because I couldnt recall passing any mobile camera vans and there's no fixed cameras on my route, so just to be sure I sent the form back un signed and wrote a letter asking to see the photograpic evidence.
About another mont passed and I was starting to think I'd got off with it, but today another letter arived.
It said I'd failed to fill in the form correctly and had to sign it and send it back before 7 days!
However, this form was actually different and instead of having just the one option of taking a £60 fine and 3 points, it also gives me the option of paying £65 and attending a 3 hour course on speed awarness!!!!! NO POINTS!!!!
So, chuffed as I am, ill pay a fiver extra and get no points! Im not sure if this is just a Northumbria police initative, any body else had this option before!
I think its a great idea, but why dont they tell you about it in te 1st letter Id got sent? I could have just filled it in and been stuck with 3 points and a £60 fine!!!
They also sent me a copy of the pictures, which clearly shows its my car, and according to their markings, doing 35mph!
I think Ill frame the photos and keep them forever!!!

It's a scheme offered by various constabularies but only for certain speeds/locations. 35 in a 30 is the most common speed for the course being offered.. Not heard of it being offered by Northumbria Police before though..
My photo's courtesy of Northumbria Police will be framed once my court proceedings are over too. Pretty good quality aren't they?
(p.s. Any chance i could see a copy of your photos for reference purposes please? )

Your Corsa looks well mate, nice and tidy!
My Corsa was in the bodyshop last week getting the rear quater repaired were some idiot drove in to iyt. The lad did a great job of repairing the damages and then gave it to the valeter to clean. When he was parking it up in the yard he rolled too far forward and hit some old tyres, putting a lovely crack in my GSi fornt bumper!!! Gutted!
Getting it repaired at the garages cost tho!

mine came through to my girlfriends address, they have sent it off so it comes to me, I was going to complain about the road being a 30 as its a dual carrageway and there are no houses etc near so really should be a 40 like the rest, problem is i was going 48 Hoping that I only get 3 points as i can't remember when i passed my test!
