picked car up tonight, was speaking with the guy that owns the place.
we discussed a few options.
Engine is a 1.6 16c ecotec

option 1
Basically he reckons the best way to sort the engine is take the whole lot out, tidy it up and start again. Cost £unknown

option 2
get some MBE throttle boddies as this will do away with the ecu and induction curring the problems Cost £2500

option 3
Take engine out, sell lexmaul, sell engine and fit a 2l. Cost £500 plus unknown for insurance

what do people think?
i am tempted to take it out and try and sort the engine then get throttle boddies at start of the year

MattB has a good 2.0 16v for sale... All you need really are the hubs, ecotec pipe and engine mount. To do it properly (highly recomended!) you need the shafts too... Do it!

sell my engine etc say £600
so i need £700
then there is the time say 3 weeks to get bits and fit it if i get my finger out

or fix the 1600

It depends on whats wrong with the 1600, if mechanically it's fine, but you just have an electrical fault you may be better off repairing it...

u wont see massive gains if u just bolt on tb's to x16xe ull need other work too like matched ported head/4-2-1/sports-cat or decat/exhaust and rod bolts etc etc, even just bolting tb's on 2.0 ull only see 25odd bhp

no one can influence u m8 thats problem, but all we can do is advise u what we would do or have done, i chose 2.0 16v when in dilemma like u and ive not looked back since love it, and engines are so strong
