As some of you may remember, I had an accident 2 moths ago.

http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=237015&page=1

My car went from this.......

To this..........

Anyways........

I’ve had a lil bit of trouble with insurance over my smoked head lights and smoked Lexus lights. The Insurance have now finally decided to pay out, but they want to give me £1,800 for it.

IMO I thought that was a lil low.
I spend over half an hour on the phone to the guy about this, and we couldn’t really come to an agreement.

I wasn’t expecting to get the same value I spent on it, but was hoping for a lil more.

My parents are now like just take the money and get another car with that.

Is £1800 about right for my car ????

Should I just take the money ???

It was a 2000 W Reg 1.0L 12V with 47K on the clock.

help ?

your lucky they are paying out at all!

Parkers gives just over that value for a good Private, so I would take the money. Were the mods insured on a life for like?

When my car was written off i got £1500 and that was for a 1993 L reg 8v with 50k on the clock and then they took £400 off for the excess.

Were the lights not declared or something?

would probe beworth a bit more privately, but you well never get the money back for mods, and its always gonn abe abit less than the actual value from insurance.

Not sure I only got £1900 for my T reg late 1999 50 ish k mileage 1.2 16v Silver Corsa B Sxi.

So £1800 kinda seems fair, then again you did have expensive wheels etc. Wasn't someone saying the other day - always turn down their first offer and accept their second, I swear there was a whole post about it.

i would turn it down, they then go and look at the market and come back with the same offer or more, but the offer will never go down..even if they find they are selling cheaper..

worth a try..

Looks like you bloody rolled her.

Would I be correct?

Are you ok mate?

Realy had no idea. Haven't seen any thread about it or had it mentioned to me. Wondered why you had seemed to be incommunicado for a while and we hadn't seen you about for a bit - that would explain it.

If that's their first offer refuse it mate, especially if the book value of the car is greater than 500 pounds more than their offer.

Does this mean you're cadging lifts and getting buses everwhere currently?

Anyway, chin-up, it'll all come out in the wash Rosco

That is providing neither you or any occupants were hurt at all that is.

Hey mate,

yeah i rolled her, im ok now.

i missed a lot of events with you guys, im quite gutted i didnt get to hear more tales of your mobile rape van

really wants to come to trax to see you all, but had no car

£1800 wasnt the first offer, they wanted to give me £1500 and that was thanks to the wing that adi and i cut up.

going to give them a call on monday, and see if i can push it to either £1900. they werent too interested in what mods were already on the car, just wanted to give me the market value.

the slight problem i had with the headlights was that i didnt declare them because i got them very cheap and wasnt bothered if i did have an accident they wouldnt be replaced. So the insurance company wanted in writing that i had the lights and then took their time trying to assess the value.

No i was alone in the car luckily, i was driving down a very dark unfamiliar country lane and didnt relaise the bend was so sharp and stuff the car in a field...
