Formula ford festival this weekend just gone,
The driver/friend of mine that i was helping finished 2nd!

he hasnt raced in 12 months since last years festival where he finished 3rd in his 5th ever FF race.

This year he done one better by reaching 2nd, was a very good weekend!

1st heat he won
semi - he came 3rd
final - started 6th and finished 2nd

here are some pics

heat 1 - darren 2nd in pic!

now in front

on podium

the car

after the final

Right please think about this now -
to run a formula ford 1600 for a season is about 20k, darren has no money at all, between friends and family he scraped enough to pay for the hire of the car and tyres and fuel and entrance fees to the festival. and he came 2nd!! There are guys out there who spend 30k+ a season on racing and they come 3rd etc+, this goes to show what raw talent and passion darren has compared to some of the others.
It amazes me what one boy (19) can do with such a little budget in one weekend!

Were now attempting to sort a year for him by raising the cash and sorting sponsors, so if any of you know of someone/company that may be able to help please contact me,

Also for anyone that knows much about racing will agree formula ford 1600 is posibly the closest racing fomula there is, darren won by 0.2s,
and if you have never seen 4 single seaters abreast heading into paddock hill bend and druids, go see a FF1600 race

im not sure what year the car is. It belongs to my uncle. He did a arrive and drive thing for some bloke and then the guy hiring the car ran out of money after he had spent a fortune having the engine rebuilt by some company in ireland.

That's always the way though - Money.

It pisses me off when I read stories about rich spoilt kids who just say 'I wanna race cars' - so their daddy pays for the best (previous year winning car) and gets the best team and the best people to train and guide the kid.

Then the kid comes in the middle somewhere and they're like wow! yet they'll be people with more talent but not the funds at the back, because they're cars are old, not as good and not as reliable!

Sucks - but thats the way the world is.
