i had this about a year ago, turned out where i fitted my door speakers I had some how managed to bend one of the terminals on one, and at one point the terminal touched the metal of the door. My headunit (Kenwood 3027g at the time) went into safe mode and would not give any signal to speakers until reset. I tried resetting, but problem occurred again about a day later. I rang my mate, who told me it was a short circuit in the speaker wiring. When i got home that night, had a fiddle around hoping no wire had worn through, and found the bent terminal, bent it back to its original shape and had no problems since! So hope its a short circuit somewhere, u may need a multimeter to find out where though!

By the way, I had no amps at the time, so can't say whether it would cut that signal as well, but seems like that will almost certainly be your problem. Hope you sort it mate!
