I think you just go to "my computer" then "view system information" and it should tell it you there

ok, on a serious note,
Start-> Run -> regedit
And navigate to the following:
HKey_LocalMachine/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version
Half way down you'll see ProductID

He would also get the same number by right clicking on my computer and clicking on properties. but that number isnt the windows key for installation he's after
