he means what ohms do you want the amp running at ?

for example...

The alpine sub you have, you say is 4ohmDVC. Meaning it has 2 voice coils. (4 terminals on the back of the sub) you can wire these voice coils in different ways.
Wiring them in series or parrelell will give you a different resistance (ohm) on the amp.

When you look at amp ratings, it MAY say, 500wrms@4 ohm.
700wrms@2ohm.

you buy the approprate sub(s) to give you your desired load (thats the ohms value) on your amp.

so if you have 1 4ohmDVC sub, and you want to put a 2ohm load on this particular amp, wire it thusly,

if you want to put a 4ohm load on the amp, you will need to have a 2ohmDVC sub,


or if your the amp can handle a 1ohm load...

... have you brought the sub yet, dont just try any old configuration, choose the rights one

did a google search,

think its a 1200wrms vibe mono amp, for about £140..

cant work that out....

hmm. wonder what the RMS is... Cant find anything. i have to keep closing the screen down as ppl walk by...

can that alpine sub take that kind of power.....?

its usually half the max power. If he keeps the gain low it should be ok, will be a waste of a good amp though imo.

reccomend any better subs to suit the amp then?
