I've never paid for tyre fitting and balancing ever. So if I have to next time I will be annoyed

Yeah all wheel weights are now zinc and up to 4 times the cost price, stick on weights are tin but no-more expensive... i know, i sell stuff like that

3cm, its not usually the tyres, alot of tyres are pre balanced( ithink) its the plebs who ram curbs and damage there rims

This is due to the EU directives (RoHS) on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances.

It is starting to hit the electronics industry quite hard as solder is usually made of lead...

Now you are allowed only minimum lead content. This therefore means new components need to be made etc,
