I was browsing Ebay and came accross this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5812701738&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&rd=1
I've heard about the scam ones when you have to buy something to enter the scheme, but these seem different. It relies on you trying out a promotional offer, and the DVD rental trial is free as long as you remember to cancel. You then just have to 5 refer people to do the same as well.
I was naturally very cautious of this, so did a bit more research, and found the BBC had done an article about them and supported them, sayingt hat thousands of people had got there free ipods. http://www.gratisoffersguide.com/files/bbcstory.ram
SO do you think they are for real or not?

Ah ok
I've read on CNN that they've shipped over 19,000 ipods worldwide.
I think this is how the system works:
You try out a free promotional ofer, such as a dvd rental service, that affiliate then pays free ipods for refering them a new potential customer. The freeipod site then gets that money, plus more money when you refer people to the site and they try out an offer. With this money, the freeipod site then buy you an ipod, and have a nice tidy profit of their own.
It seems to all fall into place, and i'd doubt the BBC and CNN would cover it if it didn't have a good reputation.

Tried it out, it doesn't require any payment to me made, you just have to try out the DVD trial. You have 21 days within which to cancel it before you get charged.

The one in my sig works You just have to sign up to an affiliate scheme, like a DVD trial, or a bank account or Sky TV - they are all provieded by reputable companys. I am always a bit sceptical of these things, but I thought i'd give it a go
