hmmm interesting one.
my ibiza cupra had the K03 turbo which ran out of steam at 5k rpm, so used to shift up fairly early tbh.
the octavia has the K03S which holds boost much closer to the redline, so shift up much higher in rev range.
Its had a remap so going to get it on rollers take a look at the torque graph, also going to get a boost gauge so can see whats going on also.

I should imagine its probably got a Garrett T4 turbo. Which is fairly large for a 1.9 I would think. Does the power come on between 3/4K rpm like a sledgehammer?

Garrett T4??
thats not gonna be right, as its used on HUUUUGE power Cossies and the like
its more likely to be T28/T3 size at the most, but i'd say its smaller realistically

I thought it odd that it would have a T4 on what with it being a 1.9, but then cossies are 2.0 so I thought maybe. Why call it a T4 though a stick a T3 under the bonnet?

stock boost is 0.9 bar turbo is a mitsubishi
earlier models like your have the TD04-12T 8.5
later models have TD04L-14T
the 14T has a larger exhaust outlet

cause the performance 850 was called the T5(R) and the S/V40 was the model below

Mav its all about learning how to drive each given car...when the turbo kicks in for each gear..then once you have mastered this the trick is to stay on boost as much as possible...

in my corsa the turbo hits real boost about 3500ish but holds it to red line at 7250 in every gear, well, aint got that fast in 6th yet, sure it would tough.
thing i always find seems a good thing to do is the last 10 mins of the journey, dont boot it at all, let oil circulate properly through turbo, then i leave it ticking over for a min or so on the drive. i also, as im sad, let it warm up 5 mins before i move aswell, unless obviously its been ran in the past hour or so
