Well personally ive heard that i-pod batterys only last 12-18 months despite endless recharging & apparently apple arnt too both about replacing them either, so my opinion would be to go for a MP3 player like an i-river & use good old AAA batteries:

Seen their MP3's in local sony centre, was impressed with the styling of the unit & priced quite well compared to i-pod etc..

have had my ipod for 18months now, use it everyday, actually get 10+hours now from battery rather than the acclaimed 8, its a 3rd gen

i got an ipod mini 4 xmas n its fuckin ace but i gotta agree bout the battery life. its 2 days max. but i use it everywere, when im not driving, defo a must gadget 2 have tho. cash
