Has anybody tried this stuff out yet?

I've stuck a tenner's worth in the Astra this morning before coming to work, seeing as it's only 2 pence/litre dearer than the normal crap I thought I'd give it a go.

Haven't had a chance to take my car for a proper "test drive" as yet, although it did seem a little more responsive than usual - although in my case the difference is probably psychological as I've only got a 1400cc n/a car!

we get 100RON out the pumps over here, but some say the Caltex Vortex can be as high as 102RON. makes my Camry run a lot smoother when in the upper ranges

No fooking point at all

For a start your car is set to run on 97 Ron and the only thing you will get from it is maybe some better fuel economy. You will also find you go through fuel filters more often. I used to fill up with £100 a week of SUL. When my car went barmy we took the fuel filter off to find it was fubared

thats bollocks, his car is fitted with a knock sensor, it will retard/advance the timing sequence according to the specific RON value of the fuel. he can throw 91/95/97/98/100/102 or whatever he wants in there and suffer no ill side effects

No there is no benifit to running 97/98/99/100 Ron in a standard car except for fuel economy (at a push).

Only cars that will benifit are cars whihc have been mapped to run this fuel not standard Vaux's running standard ECU map

I didnt say there were any ill effects other than going through fuel filters more frequently which is totally independent of the engine

no benefit?? of course there is a benefit. smoother running engine for a start, not to mention the host of additives added to high performance fuels

When I ran on 99 octane my car seemed to rev up slower... feel less responsive than say on 97.

though it did feel like a bigger bang and thus pulled a bit harder in 5th.

I think mine is smoking slightly today, but unsure whether it's because I put that 99RON stuff in or just because my cat is fucked...
