When these were invented why did they come up with both Philips and Flat? Surely the world would survive with just one or the other? Maybe im missing something but whats the point in having 2 items that do the same thing etc etc.......

Flat first obviously.
Then why improved the design.
Works without a dead staight angle of attack.
only need to turn it 90 degrees et etc.

It was invented by Phillip Schofield, and was inpsired by the technique he used to rape Gordon the Gopher on Going Live.
The packaging wouldn't allow his full name, so it was shortened to "Phillip S"... later to become just "Phillips".
