Just been to Vauxhall to have a horn fixed under warranty and was told that the front tyres are down to 1.6 and 2mm.
Brake pads were also worn 80% front and 85% rear.
Is this normal after 11,000 miles of use in mostly city driving condtions?
So they wanted about £175 for pads including vat and fitting. Fook that I ordered the pads for £65. Had to get genuine vaux ones for the warranty.
The tyres are also £80 each without fitting for Dunlop SP9000. 195/45/16.
Now this is going to cost me a shitload so I want cheaper tyres but still o.k as the Dunlops seem to have worn quickly?. The rears have 4mm left each. Will this take long to wear down?
So does anyone have a decent tyre suggestion and were to buy online.
So far Toyo Proxes T1-R 195/45 R16 V have caught my eye at £60 each..
Anyone recommend these or better?
Thanks
Allan

but is 11,000 miles from new seem high wear rate? I had 7mm left on my service in april and now after 4000 miles later they are down to 2mm and legal limit?

brakes yep sounds right on a corsa c
tyres nope sound like them wanting extra work, my sri had done 10,000 miles before I got 17's and they had 4/5mm left on them
would expect those tyres to do 25,000 min

I might as well buy new as one is borderline illegal.

all depends what type of driving you do. Dunlops are soft (could be wrong) and also how you drive the car

To be honest the car get caned a fair bit.
I'm just not sure on the norm for tyre wear. I've never replaced a tyre before due to buying new cars and selling etc.. so am unsure of the ones to get or stay clear of. I've also heard someone else mention the Dunlops are very soft though.

Got the pads for £65 with vat etc... They told me the warranty is void if I use aftermarket ones. Not bothered as that seems reasonable but as for the fitting price . I'll pass on doing that myself. I'd rather pay someone when the tyres get fitted.
Suppose I'll just bend over now

Just ordered 2 Toyo PROXES T1-R for £80.80.
Good or bad?

I know they will not be as good as the Dunlops but they look a similar tread pattern and read reviews sound o.k
