probably more likely to get hit by a car while looking up in the sky at an airplane then dying on one.

Don't think we'll know, they might of not died up there cause I think its more of a cause of the air is thinner then down here as apposed to no air at all.

i hate flying aswell but that airline sounds like it was doomed from the start and i just heard on the news that passengers didnt want to get on the plane as they could tell something was up but the airline refused to get another plane out

Thats my worst nightmare, if i could travel by boat or car / train then i would.
right so in another scenario you would perhaps rather slowly drown inside a cabin of a cruise liner, or be blown up on a train and melt inside...
get a life!
you'd be suprised at how many "tech glitches" aircraft have in flight without the passengers even knowing!
just as on a boat, or a train!

Don't be stupid, If you was on a boat you can put a life jacket on and get in a dingy.
In a plane you have nothing !
ps - just had a big argument with my mate at work, he doesn't think you get life jakets on planes, dumb dick !

Exactly.
You have more chance of being in a car crash travelling to the airport then being in a plane crash.
I personally love flying.

I think that most journeys are auto pilot'd so when this happened the plane was still in this mode....
Passers by said they saw the plane "drop out of the air like a rock", so when it got to a point where someone needed to control the plane manually perhaps it just dropped like a rock.
A plane full of already near dead people falling to the ground to meet its firey death
Aircraft was on Autopilot, and ran out of fuel, hence plummeting to the ground like a rock. Funny thing is, it might not have been so bad if the autopilot was switched off. With it on, and running out of fuel, the aircrafts autopilot system will try to keep altitude at the expense of airspeed, until it stalls. Air flow over the wings will reach a critical velocity and the aircraft will quite literally fall to earth. if autopilot was off, it would be more than likely that the aircraft would enter a shallow dive and glide. wouldnt have made much difference though.
What i find weird about the whole situation is that both the pilots lost consciousness extremely quickly, fast enough to not be able to put breathing apparatus on. A few pilots i have been talking to have suggested that both pilots blacked out, possibly from a massive loss of altitude. explosive decompression can have nasty effects on an aircraft at +30,000ft.

Qantas is AMONG the safest airlines in the world. BA/Singapore Airlines/Cathay Pacific all have excellent safety records.

the first autopsies have come to the conclusion that although not dead, passengers were unconcious at time of impact.

It's all to do with the "angle of attack"
The nose is too high for the wings to generate enough lift to keep the aircraft in the air.

actually, the angle of attack can be as acute as you like, its airspeed thats the bummer
