Got my heart set on going travelling next year, but don't have any friends who want to go ... is it worth going on my own?

We have a family friend who i haven't seen for years in New Zeland that i could go and see, but im unsure or wether going on my own is a good idea, but i dont want to wake up in 10 years time and really regret not going!

i suppose it would be more of a holiday than actually 'travelling', just wondering if any of you guys have been before

Aww tis a shame, but maybe he'll change his mind
Just go by yourself if not, make sure you let people know when to expect you etc,so people are alerted if you dont arrive somewhere when you should, i think you'll be fine and very proud of yourself for doing it

I am going to go regardless, im hoping Richie will change his mind
Im just worried about the risks of going on my own, and was wondering if anyone had done it on their own before and had any pointers
Im worried because a local girl from round here went to Thailand and was murdered ... but then again it could happen here, im just worried about being on my own!

spent 6 months in oz and 2 weeks in japan!

id say go for it, oz, nz, thailand, states are all places that girls will eb safe alone!

There are about 50k backpackers in oz and 20k in new zealand each year, all the hostels are full and packed with travellers who will meet anyone and all go for a beer, clubbing togethor!

Just keep your money in different places and dont draw too much out. And padlock your backpack up and to your bed!! Job done i can guarantee you will have no problems.

Its when people go off the beaten track looking for a job on a farm etc when they get into trouble
