In Europe it is very common practice to rent (esp in Germany I believe) but the UK house market is more geared towards buying... I also know that in Holland you can fix your interest rate for 25 years Over here anything more than 2 years is a bonus!! Its because so few people actually buy, as you say Balling, its so cheap to rent that poeple just do that :S

But yes, you can also get a fixed interest for upto 30 years up here!
