Ive got £150 at the very most to spend on some components, prefer to spend less. I was going to buy some Focal Access 165As but having trouble finding somewhere to buy them from at a decent price so wondering if there are any better speakers for the money!
Dont really want to have door builds if I can help it. Going to be running off my Alpine T420 amp (2 x 120w RMS IIRC but gains will need turning down).
Ive seen some Genesis Profile 16 components which look like they are what I am looking for as they have a mounting depth of 60mm, an RMS of 80w so I wont need to turn the gains down too much and also Ive never heard a bad word about Genesis but I presume these are their entry level speakers so might be a different story!
So do I go with the Genesis Profile 16s, the Focal Access 165A (and keep trying to find somewhere to supply them) or would you recommend something else!
Im pretty sure Ive asked about components in the past but now I have actually got the spare cash to buy some I really dont want to get the wrong ones and be disappointed!

never heard the genesis comps mate, so cant comment. Though focal stuff does sound mint, especially if you get it all setup properly, soundproofing, decent gear all round etc.
only thing is, with the focals you can easily pass 150-200wRMS into them and they will carry on, so your amp might not cut the mustard as it were, if you play it at full wack.
you could always go to a local ICE supplier and see if you can have a listen to some genesis comps, your amp seems to be a perfect match for a set of those, so youre onto a winner there already
personally i would source some focals, but then again, i wouldnt use an alpine amp to power them so...

Ok cheers Dom
Just one more thing, where do people put the crossovers? I dont really want mine on display if I can help it, want it to look factory from the outside. Is there enough room behind the door pockets or door cards?

mine weren't that big (a few inches by a few inches), so i just placed in the foam behind the handle area of the doors cards, and then just ducked taped it all up to keep them secure etc
Only problem i ran into was the wiring, even though i used some flat speaker cable, i had to re-route the stuff twice as it kept getting stuck to the window and ripping connectors apart when putting the window up etc.

agreed gennys are very good, very different sound to focals tho.
As said see if you can finds anywhere to have a listen to both and then make ya mind up, halfords can do the focal access range.

I ordered the Genesis Profile 16s yesterday afternoon. Gonna put them in with the Alpine amp for now and if Im not happy with the sound I might go for a Genesis amp as Ive been told its a better match than my Alpine one.
The crossovers for the Genesis ones look to be quite small so should be easy enough to hide them behind the trim.
I'll let you know what I think of them once Ive got them up and running
Thanks for the advice fellas
