They're great but as mentioned, 8-9k is probably a little optimistic unless you can find a high miler.
Great fun to drive and there should be no problems with it whatsoever given its age. Any issues should have been sorted under warrenty.

Get a 182 cup then.
172 Cup and 182 are pretty much identical although the 172 Cup loses a lot of spec. The 182 Cup is faster than both but keeps a decent spec level.
Performance differences between any are barely noticable on the road.

Trophy look the nuts. No where near worth the extra cash though.

tis IMO they have totally redone the chassis from scratch, would be very much noticable on a track compared to a 182 cup

Nonsense. What sort of a company designs a chassis totally 'from scratch' for a 500 run car??
They have made 'Sport' modifications to the chassis. In reality, whilst it feels different from the 182, you'd have to be a pretty special driver to notice any difference to the Cup.
The Trophy is great but there's no discounts available from dealers are they're limited which makes it considerably more pricey than the 182 in the real world.

they changed an awful lot mate such as wider front and rear track, altered scrub radius/caster offset/SAI, ligher wheels, lowered 30mm in terms of actual ground clearance, stiffer springing and damping, stiffer damper bodies with larger reservior to reduce overheating through hysteresis, beefier steering hubs etc etc

oh if you do get one the cambelt change and 36k service can be very expensive. And yes the belt does snap and it can cause a lot of damage as it has happened on a few people on cliosport.net
